PEGI Rating Listing Confirms Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered first hit rumour mill almost a year ago thanks to some early retail listings, and now it's come back again thanks to a fresh listing from European ratings board PEGI.

The Pan European Game Information (PEGI) board has given a rating to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, giving us more evidence to support that it's real.

The last CoD remaster, the as-of-now PS+ game Modern Warfare Remastered, was a fantastic entry. But I'm not buying it again to play through its 5-hour campaign for some refined textures and environments. The game is a remaster so the big changes are mostly on the graphics department. But since the European rating board is usually a very trusted and reliable source, this reveal is nearly akin to an official announcement already.

This is the very first time that a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has been rated on any board or mentioned on any type of an official site. Even though the Xbox One and PC platforms are not listed, it seems highly unlikely they will be excluded from getting the game. We have to deal with the computerized player with its single-player mode.

Given the current industry direction, this may suggest that Activision is looking at a two-pronged effort to release the title: a campaign component first, with only the single-player part of the game, followed by a multiplayer offering that it could sell as an "add on" of sorts. We all saw the reactions when Modern Warfare Remastered released and then got updated to include loot boxes - it wasn't pretty. The fans have been waiting for Modern Warfare 4 ever since the release of Modern Warfare 3.
