Coachella Festival Explosion Causes Huge Fire, But No Injuries Reported

Don't fret if you couldn't fork over a pile of Benjamins to gain access to the Coachella Festival this weekend.

A fire ripped through a mobile shower unit at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival early Saturday.

Firefighters were called to the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, the venue of the music festival, at 2:05 a.m., about an after hour after the last performance of the night.

The Riverside County Fire Department sent four engines to the scene.

One trailer unit was damaged by the flames and another was destroyed. People on the scene caught parts of the massive flames that rose from the showers on the campground, which were reportedly caused by a mechanical failure of the heating used for water.

Witnesses report hearing explosions before the fire broke out, with concert-goers fleeing the area in their towels as security cleared the area.

This year's festival, which wraps up on April 21, is headlined by Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande and Tame Impala.
